Update yall !! Who is needs a good chuckle at my expense? I took down the rear a/c unit today. It has 4 rubber hoses going to it. Each one is attached with high pressure fittings. I figured it was going to be freon. Well, I took off one of the big ones first. I got a face and body spray of refrigerant oil. Most of it went on my arm. But I turned the hose of hell away from me and sprayed it all on the interior and out the back door of the bus before it stopped. LMAO !!

I will start off to answer the question about the rust converter that I am using. This is applied before the primer. Preferably in places where any bubbling up or rust flakes have been removed. I will show three pictures. Before "ospho" is applied, after, and then when an area is primer painted over it. I'll then post a 4th picture of the bottle of "ospho". 
Finally...the picture of me after the rear a/c hose/line was removed from the rear a/c and it sprayed me, the inside, and then out the door. But the bitch is out. And I escaped with only a few lumps on the head before I tore it up and dropped it like it was hot. (Well it didn't cool you know). LOL

Some more pictures...rained alot and most of the windows leaked. I had taken out the inner window frame rings so I could take care of the rust without removing windows. I knew they were going to leak..I could see daylight passed the gaskets. But at least windows didn't fall out.  The floor is bare and wood. It will dry. I'm waiting on the 150 foot of butyl tape to arrive tomorrow. Then will removing each window, removing rust on the side of the steel frame, applying ospho, primer paint, enamel paint, cleaning window glass frame, applying butyl, and re-installing window. I'll do this one window at a time. 40% chance of rain on Friday. Not working on it tomorrow. Friday will be my last day to work on it for many months.  Oh..and replace rear door hinges. Bottom one broke today. But a didn't back it into a tree like I did yesterday. Good news is the roof didn't leak. WOOHOO !!! The journey continues ....Enjoy !

Leaking window. Had to skip these areas until after rain stops or windows are resealed etc. 

These hoses/lines. etc go through this place in steel framing. Will have to get grinding wheel and grind off the weld beads to those angle iron pieces that a/c was bolted to. 

Next big thing is remove this 100 lbs of fans that go to rear a/c. They are mounted under body behind drivers area. 

Worn out for now...But making progress...even if it just looks like I'm tearing shit up. LOL.  Stay tuned folks !!! 
BTW...when I got blasted with the oil I damn near got in my mouth from laughing while it was spraying !! That's making memories already !!  David

Didn't do any work on the bus today. But I did see that I forgot to mention that on Monday morning (The first day of driving it) when I went to parallel park it between two trees for shade..I clipped a tree pulling forward. Below is the result. Not a good thing to start out the day. But nothing I can't fix. Planned on a heavier steel bumper anyways...lol...And reminds me why I need a great rear camera on it for sure (Maybe on both sides too...lol).....

I got my Amazoo order in today of 150 ft of Butyl sealant tape...Tomorrow is window day !! 

Good News !! I got in touch with Mr. Bleep today via text message !! Going to have to bump up his reputation points for sure !! 
Will need to cut these seat rails off the steel structure walls. They run all the way from front to back. But not right now...Windows on the menu. 

And the final picture for tonight is an overall picture of the interior at this point. Still have some of the ceiling panel in. That can wait for now. Got other things that need to be done before I go back to Little Rock. AR for several months. But inside will be weatherproof and I can start ordering things that go in it while I'm away. Then my folks can just set them inside the bus for me. I'll try to take more pictures tomorrow since the window thing will be very important to others in the future. 
I think I found a good name for my rig.... "PoDunk"  If you are not quite sure what that means then you should watch this music video by Kid Rock. It will describe it perfectly...lol   

If this was your bus your were building ...what is one or two things you would do to it as far as interior? I plan to put Gunny's name on the interior somewhere. Miss that great man. He gave me so much inspiration.  Thank you to everyone that is following along !! David

As far as what to put in the interior.
One thing I think is crucial now that I have been out here for a while is a very secure, well concealed safe of some variety.
Start planning wire runs as well.

Here is what happened when I used butyl tape to install my windows on a white van. I used 1/8 inch butyl tape, in a short while a steak of dark formed from the corners downwards from water running over the butyl down the side, to remedy these unsightly marks, I cut the butyl very flush with the window frame then ran a thin bead of silicone over it so this would stop water reaching the butyl, seems to have worked no more dark streak running down the side of the van from my windows.

Oh by the way, if this was my interior I wouldn’t be afraid to eliminate some of the windows to create more wall space more storage and better insulation, with that many windows it will like living in a green house. I would likely just paint them from the inside with a colour that matched the outside insulate and make a wall in front of that.

Well...here's what got done today...I'm very very tired and have a weekend with my elderly mother starting in the morning. So I'm just going to post some pictures and explain later.

Butyl tape didn't work. Used window gaskets. Explain why later. All windows are sealed up now.
