Trying to figure out inverter size for this freezer. Ideas?

Perhaps a hard start AC capacitor could help.

Often the attempts to bypass the ridiculous prices of 12v units, has one spending that 'saved' money on more battery inverter and charging capacity.

My 12v vitrifrigo uses 32 watts running and has a 56 watt surge but is a 650$ fridge.

Yep. Is almost always better to pay more for higher end Q components. Where Q is the components themselves. End product is dependent on the innards.
Someone said to me in 2016 on a question I'd posted elsewhere, "Just buy a high Q 3000 W PSW inverter, and stop wasting time & money in work arounds." It took me a while to get past that comment. But he was right and very logical.
I run a 2KW and a 400W. Both PSW, and that works. I've not used a fridge anywhere in over 16 years, it was a challenge a home group did.

The question should be easy. does the Sportsman 800w start it? If so, there is your answer. Personally I like my Tripp lite PV1250fc at $235 with 2 day shipping on Amazon. It will hold 2500w for 10 minutes and I have had my little A/C going, the water heater, someone's RV plugged in for charging and nuked a few burritos all at once. It's not PSW but the only thing I have found that will not run off of it is a induction plate.

I almost wish I had bought a freezer like that instead of the Engel. Yes the Engel uses less to run but I really believe the thicker insulation of the chest freezer would cut down on the run time. I have down pillows packed around my Engel and you should feel how cold it is when you stick your hand under them.

Beware the surge ratings of many inverters can be measured in milliseconds.

This one is well spoken of.

10x running W's.
THAT is why it requires a 15 Amp fuse, well duh... Alice just got irritated.

Just a "I read it somewhere", a lot of those fridges run at about 100w or less. Be great if a decent 750/1500 inverter handled it. How important is a PSW inverter when talking about a freezer? I wouldn't expect a residential mini chest freezer to last to long on the road from the get go.
