Despite not wanting bob's site to get another hit from me, I decided to log on to check my PMs and saw one from Ballenxj informing me of this site.
Good on ya Gary, and thanks Ballenxj.
Good to see all of you again.
Not much new in my Zone.
A while back I texted my 80 year old father whom had a few health scares in the fairly recent past, that he should fly out and we could drive upto eastern Oregon to see the total eclipse, and when he texted me back he gave me his flight numbers.
We made it to Malheur Forest in 2 days from San Diego, although my 6 year old tires protested highway 395 at noon on a Saturday about 80 miles south of Lone Pine. Could have been ugly if one had blown out. 3 of 4 had failed and were exceeding 210F, out of round, and looked like overinflated donuts, the 4th was 120f. The only tire store there had my not so common tire size was about to close, and charged a premium and both seriously overtorqued and undertorqued my lug nuts, but we were able to continue and got into the path of totality with about 45 minutes to spare. That night we stayed in the Van, but the other nights he was all about the hotel, Which I was fine with too, even though I was tempted to still sleep in my van.
We Took 6 days to drive back to SD, and he wants to do more road trips in the near future. 2600 miles in 6 days exceeded my mileage for the previous year by over 600, so it was a much needed road trip, and while seeing the total eclipse was an awesome experience, the best part was a road trip with Dad.
I have seriously reduced my time spent on the internet since leaving crvl, and will continue to limit my time spent typing, but I got a few new ventilation and electrical gizmos to share and will try and get around to that soon.
But for now the Pacific is calling, and I should be there.
