I bought a knockoff solo stove type firepit a few months ago. Due to life, I didn't try it out until this month.

 solo.jpg (Size: 134.71 KB / Downloads: 2)

I've used it twice and here's what I've noticed...

 lit.jpg (Size: 86.07 KB / Downloads: 2)

It's not really low smoke, but it doesn't blow anywhere but up. The ash pan isn't really a pan, you lift it up the inside piece and ashes fall and blow everywhere. I've enjoyed the times I've used it. I used mostly twigs and branches from the yard and it was a quick fire (20-30 minutes) so I'll be trying it out again when it cools off (fall??) with a better supply of wood.

The price was better than a solo stove, but I have no comparison with the real thing.

What I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDWQSB36?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Link not wanting to stay together, so here's just a quick view:

I have a degree in this stuff (a few decades ago), and I've been reading and interested in the electronics side of things for several years now. I know how things work. However, I'm finding that things that I know what they do now go by different names. I have come to the (possibly incorrect) conclusion that a dc to dc 'charger' is what I know as a battery isolator that is put between two batteries to keep either one from drawing the other down past a set voltage, but sharing voltage above that point. Am I right or wrong? This term seemed to take over discussions a couple of years ago, and I never hear the term isolator now.

Thanks
Not exactly sure what to say here as I generally try to keep to myself for the most part (Pirate Camp attendees can attest to this). Still feel a bit like a greenhorn in the van dwelling community having only been out just over a year, but making the most of it as I can. Though I do tend to procrastinate a lot (which I'm sure frustrates ABNorm to no end) I do eventually get things accomplished (just don't ask about my van build because even after a year I've barely started...). I believe it might be what some call 'planning paralyzation'.
Anyway, hoping to at the very least not be a negative influence on the forum and will help whenever I am able.
