Yosemite National Park
#1
I drove to the high country in Yosemite yesterday. These shots are at about 9,000 ft elevation on HWY 120 at or near Tuolumne Meadows.

It was a little creepy to have the park be so empty. This is July and having many available parking spots is unheard of. I’m thinking people have earthquake fever and are afraid to visit. Hopefully that’s it, the last time I was at the park and it was this empty the economy tanked.

I lived in Yosemite for five years, mostly as the night auditor at Yosemite Lodge. This place always feels like home.

Tourism is way down here in Happy Camp too. Probably a combination of factors including mining regulations, gas prices, and ... just the general reputation of California for the people who don't live here. A lot of people are spending money elsewhere this year.

Thanks.

This makes me nervous. I had a small business and in 2007 there were way less tourists, it was the early warning of the 2008 crash.

9K elevation. Do you feel any effects from that? just curious cause we are low elev. people so far Smile and have every intention of going higher but I read every now and then of people having troubles higher....just wondering on it.

Higher needs better hydration. Getting dehydrated at elevation causes altitude sickness AFAIK.
