Van battery question

preferably one with a digital readout, and set the charge voltages like you mentioned

I look at the digital readout often.  I know that I have 9 feet of AWG #6 and 3 feet of AWG #10 between the controller and the battery.  That's enough resistance to make the digital readout wrong.  Occasionally connect a voltmeter to the battery and compare that to the digital readout.  It's not the cheapness of the charge controller, it's the resistance.
