it is not too often San diego coastal gets both hot and humid, but the last few days have qualified.
Right now the floor of my van, traditionally the coolest spot, is 89.5F ad other surfaces within range from 93 to95F.
65% humidity. My 12v compressor sourced beer is 31.5f and develops sweat fast and is dripping shortly thereafter.
I have a lightweight sarong. I dip it in an old coffee can filled with water and squeeze out much of it, spread it out, place it on my body and Aim my powerful internal fan on it.
it is 75.5f and 71F in the center of the fan's output, on my chest. It feels like an air conditioned blanket as it sucks the heat from my body, and I've actually achieved having the chills, and this allows me the energy to do something for brief spells before I feel like I am overheating again.
I pretty much have the opposite build of the 'Swimmers build' my body is more designed for tolerating cold, not hot..
NOw 65% humidity is obviously low, compared to many locations. Anybody with an IR gun want to aim a wet fan at a damp sheet or sarong/sulu and see what it reads in eastcoast style 85% humidity?
If I did not have this cold sarong on my chest I would be pretty freaking miserable right now.
If it were not the weekend with the insanely halfwitted, fully oblivious crowds at the beaches, i would be there, but hopes for getting parking at the one or two semi local legal places to have Fiona on her leash on the beach is non existent.
I've been wetting her down too, but she does not look much bothered with this heat and was laying on asphalt in direct sun at 10AM. Wackjob.
While i can keep my interior the same as ambinet temps, I do not yet have a large thermometer to arrange for concerned dog lovers to see, and if it is not digital perhaps they could not even read/understand its presence or readings. So I feel like I can't really go anywhere when it is this hot and if I leave her at my friends house she just sits by the door and whines and annoys until I return.
I've had the cops called on a mild day and i handed my IR thermometer to the cop to point anywhere inside, and it was less than 75F or less everywhere.
The concerned and furiously indignant onlookers who obviously made the call, looked so disappointed when he said have a nice day and left me alone.
