My freshwater tank was a pull from a junked Class C. Amazon wanted $250 at the time for a new one; the used one was $40 if I pulled it (and I did). Cleaned it up and it is works fine.

I'd imagine that issues and returns are a function of buyers not understanding the product. It's not a windows computer.

I dunno that they are any safer than other non-windows options, but they do tend to run on very little power.  The one I'm typing on right now uses 16w max, and that's running full bore while charging...
