ASUS LAPTOP - Gunny - 02-12-2018

I bought this Asus a few weeks ago and I detest it. I will post a link to it. I don’t use it, don’t want it so make me an offer. I won’t pay you to take it but close. I will go back to my all in one from Dell until it fries.

PM or call me.

I aim to get a new laptop eventually, but I've got an eight year old Lenovo that I haven't killed yet. Yours looks nice. What don't you like about it?

Gunny
Back up any important stuff on the Dell to the Asus .
Then......
Stick it in a closet or drawer
The Dell won't last forever.
And if the hard drive fails or you get a nasty computer virus etc.
You're smilin' cuz you still have all your info safe and sound on the laptop.!

It's true , I tell ya.

If the Asus is a pain , one of us will come and help you figure out how to work around the painful parts.............

RE: ASUS LAPTOP - Gunny - 02-13-2018

Ted, I couldn’t figure out how to get it to play my music from my external hard drive, there is too much Asus crap on it and for the life of me I couldn’t get it to link with my headphones. I put it down before I threw it.

Popeye, you’re right, someone skilled with computers could make it work. I just know the basics and I hate this Windows 10. I’ve got everything backed up on an external solid state drive and usb sticks. Paid some guy 300 to recover my lost pictures when my last computer failed.

Better to let someone more knowledgeable than me have a go at it.

We just gotta get you over that hill Gunny !
W10 isn't any harder to use than W7 was .
Just take it one step at a time , just like anything else....
I'm not sure how your computer came set up but I'll get you started if you want to try.

(if you have a neighbor kid ,or even the nice lady in the office , that might be the easiest way to get 'er done ... )

Turn on the laptop and after it is done booting up....

Playing music from an external SSD:
2 places to look.......
1) The SSD itself.or File Explorer.
2) Bluetooth .

SSD:
Plug it into the USB port.
A window will appear with the contents of the drive listed .
Find your music file and 2x L. Click the song you want to listen to , it should start to play.

File Explorer :
Is there a little yellow file folder icon at the bottom of the screen ?
Left Click the little sucker and see what pops up.

Now you're looking for the SSD you have plugged in.
It might be labeled Western Digital , My Passport or Seagate , Free Agent ,maybe Toshiba....or.....
2x  L.Click it to open . See above to select a music file  (in SSD)

Bluetooth:
There's a icon that looks like a window , Left Click and look for the icon that looks like a gear (settings), this might be at the bottom of the screen when the thing boots up too.
Left click that and at the top of the settings window there should be a place to enter a search term.
Enter Bluetooth and do the search.

A window opens labeled Bluetooth and Other Devices
Turn bluetooth on here. Turn on the headphones .
Then click the + box to "add bluetooth or other device"
Another window opens up and the headphones should be listed...

Any problems or questions??

Some of the best advice you will get here. It doesn't take up much room, and it's paid for, so cheap back up.
Once you've found the one you really want, you can copy all your information over.  Cool

One of our members is picking it up this weekend.

I do appreciate the knowledge that you share Popeye, I guess my patience level just sucks now.
It did copy some pictures, funny thing is I didn’t want to copy them. I was a lost soul.

I hear ya Bud !
I've noticed a deterioration of my own power of patience as I get older too !

Ask whoever gets it if they would mind copying your leftover files to a CD or Flash Drive for you.

(I've done this on laptops given to me ,it was easy and the least I could do)

RE: ASUS LAPTOP - Gary - 02-14-2018

good deal, thanks for offering it to the members here

that $300 hp i bought was so close to never making it back to walmart,if i had the bank i would of killed it,nothing like spending hard earned money to be pissed at something, rage

RE: ASUS LAPTOP - Gunny - 02-14-2018

I would rather take a $200.00 hit than continue to fight with it. The music would show on the external and I selected a playlist and it told me there was nothing in the list. I know it’s my fault, but at this late stage in my life I just don’t need the aggravation.

I think somehow some pictures got on it , nothing important so I can just do a reset. Vaporize it all.

It did have good sounding speakers for a laptop tho.
