Disturbing article from CO - Optimistic Paranoid - 01-05-2018 An extremely disturbing article about homeless drug addicts living in National Forests in CO: http://www.5280.com/2018/01/danger-in-the-forest/ RE: Disturbing article from CO - Ballenxj - 01-05-2018 (01-05-2018, 04:43 AM)Optimistic Paranoid Wrote: An extremely disturbing article about homeless drug addicts living in National Forests in CO: This is no good.
RE: Disturbing article from CO - GotSmart - 01-05-2018 I see a main reason is the failure of society to allow affordable housing to be built. And we have a real estate profiteer in office. This will only get worse. I think you are confusing two entirely different issues. Junkies using forest land vs. affordable housing. Those junkies will still be junkies regardless of who is in office. RE: Disturbing article from CO - TWIH - 01-05-2018 That was a disturbing article. Our members are probably going to be under increasing watch due to the actions of those individuals. That whole Nederland scene sounds awful. Glad I stay away from the Colorado woods. I lived in Colorado 10 years, 1976-1986, it was a crowded Front Range back then and is very, very crowded now. If you are within driving distance of most mountain or Front Range communities it’s like the west coast as far a the overall traffic, busyness and population pressures. Denver has gotten particularly bad, especially downtown, due to youth groups taking advantage of the whole pot scene. Like the one line said, a guy arrested had no entry band for some event, but $500 in cash plus other drugs in his pockets. It’s not that he couldn’t pay the entry fee, he just didn’t want to and flipped off the system. We as dwellers, either PT or FT still try to respect the basic rules of society. Unfortunately for those who either flat don’t care or claim to be anarchist, it works for them while the vast majority remain law abiding. Try being an anarchist in a world of nothing but anarchy, I can only imagine that society. From Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism “Anarchist schools of thought had been generally grouped in two main historical traditions, individualist anarchism and social anarchism, which have some different origins, values and evolution.[10][20][163][164] The individualist wing of anarchism emphasises negative liberty, i.e. opposition to state or social control over the individual, while those in the social wing emphasise positive liberty to achieve one's potential and argue that humans have needs that society ought to fulfil, "recognising equality of entitlement".[165] In a chronological and theoretical sense, there are classical – those created throughout the 19th century – and post-classical anarchist schools – those created since the mid-20th century and after.“. End of quote RE: Disturbing article from CO - TWIH - 01-05-2018 Not to “dis” our member(s) who claim that title but I prefer knowing that the other driver follow established driving norms and laws instead of wrecking me cause he didn’t want to stop at the sign, the light or chose to drive the wrong way just cause he doesn’t like “authority”. It would basically become a Mad Max world and the first casualties are the weak, disabled and older people. RE: Disturbing article from CO - TrainChaser - 01-07-2018 One more good reason to carry. The politicians won't do anything about it until it affects them personally. RE: Disturbing article from CO - waldenbound - 01-07-2018 That reminds me of the notorious Middle Fork Road outside of Seattle/North Bend. Junkies, pot growers, abandoned cars and appliances riddled with bullets. They cleaned up that area, it’s decent, but still a problem with weekend partiers. The National Forests outside of large population centers have the biggest problems. It’s an even bigger problem with increase in homelessness, drug addiction. Easy to say get them treatment so they don’t have to go to the woods but harder in practice.. RE: Disturbing article from CO - TrainChaser - 01-07-2018 One might think that prevention would be easier than the treatment. The recovery rate for coke is about 4%. For meth, less than 1%. I gotta stop drinking that stuff then. Seriously, I never heard coke was, but meth on the other hand, VERY addicting. Think I'll have a Pepsi now. |
