battery charger for my lithium batteries... - Kyz - 03-20-2024 I need to order a battery charger for my 2 230AH Li Time lithium batteries. From the paperwork, it says I need to charge them to 100% before connecting to each other and setting up the solar system. So chances are I will only use this thing twice, once for each battery. Do I order this (or something like it) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CF9CNLG1/?coliid=I2WPCYV60VMF8B or this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B3CV4S2Y/?coliid=IBQUEM3KX6RRW I'm having analysis paralysis... RE: battery charger for my lithium batteries... - rvpopeye - 03-20-2024 The first one is 10 amps (charging per hour) 100Ah in 10 hours The second one is 20 amps (per hour) 100Ah in 5 hours The second one will take half as long to charge than the first.. IF they are discharged significantly . (2 depleted 230Ah batteries with a 10A charger is 46 hours ..) But new ones are usually close to full ! So it wouldn't matter too much but that's what you need to know for using in the future.. Also , your batteries will have a max charging amp rating in the spec sheet. EX:50 amp max charge rate on a 100Ah battery That is the size of the biggest charger you should use. .. (a 50 amp charger would charge it in 2 hours....). Pretty much all you need to know to decide . I'd get the first one (at that $25 price , it's almost disposable) especially if you don't think you'll ever need it again . A higher amp rating will make a difference in charging time if you need to charge with a genny etc. I was just checking out the LiTime battery on scamazon and I see they make a 20A charger selling for $110 ! The Renogy 20A is $110 , Victron has 5A , 15A and 30A from $85 - $185 RE: battery charger for my lithium batteries... - Kyz - 03-20-2024 I really have no way to check how charged they are right now. But the paperwork says they are not shipped fully charged. Research says they are usually shipped at 30% to 60% charge. Yes the first one at $25 seems like a reasonable way to go considering I won't need it long. RE: battery charger for my lithium batteries... - rvpopeye - 03-20-2024 I just edit posted some name brand prices to compare your savings..... RE: battery charger for my lithium batteries... - Riverman - 03-20-2024 I like my 20-amp charger. The 10 amp charger has 23 ratings and the 20 amp has over 1000 good ratings. RE: battery charger for my lithium batteries... - Kyz - 03-20-2024 46 hours (per battery) seems excessive lol but makes sense. RE: battery charger for my lithium batteries... - rvpopeye - 03-20-2024 $25 is the tip on the meal you're gonna take your dad out for.....
