Blue Sea maxi fuse block - ratfink56 - 06-18-2018

I bought one of these and I'll be damned if I can get the fuse to slide in. I have completely removed it from the system and the fuse will not go in. Anyone had this problem?

Well good old fashioned force saves the day. Stick a screwdriver at the slot for the fuse and hit it with a hammer. Really expected something a bit better for the money and reputation. Oh well.

Those are a squeeze type clip for the cover

Not everything requires a hammer, Grasshopper
Become the cover.  Sleepy

Wasn't the cover that was the problem. Twas the slots for the fuse.

I liked the design as i thought one could tighten the plates over the fuse tangs via the screws to which one added ring terminals

. And not rely on the tension applied by a a quick connector.

But i have not actually held one.

Ive had the regular molded inline fuseholders. Into which one slides the maxi or atc fuse. Completely melt at currents Well under the rating of the wiring or fuse.

Well I made the s.o.b. functional. Will reinstall and see what happens.

So the screws for the ring terminals have nothing to do with the pressure applied on the tangs of the maxi fuse?

yea,the two screws might mean something

Sternwake even with the screws out I had to pry the metal open far enough to get the fuse in. I have reinstalled everything but not tried to pull the fuse.

Ok. But do the two screws, Once tightened, clamp down those plates on the tangs of the fuse?

Just wondering if the factory assembler overtightened them, Closing off the aperture.
