"Unwelcome" Thread? - Texjbird - 05-05-2018
Yes I know this is the Welcome Forum.Some members here have known personally or at least known of other members from other forums. In the beginning most of us had a connection from CRVL being either members or former members there.
Their are new members here that I still don't know anything about except how they have responded on various subjects on the forums here.
Maybe some of us forgot to do a "Hello I'm _______________ Glad To Be Here " thread. I can't remember if I did or did not post in this forum. I will take a look and see if I did.
I just wish I knew when/why others have left. Some have decided this isn't their cup-o-soup, said so and away they went. Others have been asked to leave and the info why has been posted here and there. Others become "unregistered" and a "member search" does not pull their previous posts or threads up.
I have personal experience with someone I was very close to "disappearing". It unsettles me and makes be anxious. I have learned to deal with it & it's not something I discuss.
I just wish we could have something simple like "no longer a member at their request" or "member removed". More info could also be given when the member or administration choose to.
I'm not second guessing the reasons people leave this forum. I'm wondering about the whys. I'm also not saying it's my business either.

it's a damned if i do or damned if i dont situation but i like to keep that stuff behind the scenes and not reprimand people in public
it starts off with nicy nice mod asking if that dont work they get me telling if that dont work i just delete their account,banning also bans the ip address which could be public wifi thus the unregistered,i am not going to moderate to nauseum and try to change people
if your friend is texas patriot well he just could stop taking things political and after some warnings i got fed up,we have since talked and he is back on the board as american nomad patriot

your pretty much going to have to be a constant annoyance before the warnings even start,very lenient around here and i will make it perfectly clear if i have an issue with you

Gary I think private mediation between admin and members is fine. I'm not questioning so much why members are no longer members, if it's for their own reasons or if a admin/moderator/member issue they no longer are members.
I'm saying I don't deal well with people just disappearing.
It could even be a "Beam Me Up Scotty" moment as far as I know
It was not the former RTxP I was referring to. This incident was over 30ys ago, water ways were searched with no results....still a mystery & unsettling to me.

There is a block member option. Maybe next time a member complains about what someone is posting, remind the person with the complaint of the block option. A member getting banned for posting something that another member doesn't want to read sounds like a bs reason if they haven't at least tried to block and ignore.
I don't envy you Gary, modding isn't easy. Next time tell them to use the block feature and save the bans for egregious behavior.

I have never been banned ( though maybe I should have been ). I have been warned, threatened and reprimanded. Most of these times were deserved on different levels. I chalk it up to passion. Folks who come to boards like this tend to have certain beliefs and are quick to defend them. I think that spirited discussion gives life flavor and interest. When it devolves into what we see everyday lately on the news is when you lose me. Haven't been here long, though I have visited over the years. I find the attitudes of members and staff alike to be be quite reasonable.
