The wind, 18wheelers, class As, and general nasty traffic were horrible. After returning, I discovered that my shocks were mostly useless. Replaced them with Koni. What a HUGE improvement in drivablity. Much more steady on the road. I have since talked with many people who have had problems with handling on their rigs. One possible answer is SteerSafe. A couple of people have installed this. I will be installing it before I start up to Cortez this spring. Anything to make driving easier and safer. After the accident, EvenMoreTimid! ![]() My biggest fear is trucks, and Fawkes is much more stable than my prior vehicle, when being passed by trucks. Among the excellent advice GypsyDogs gave me, was that when driving it, aggressive drivers are less intimidating than when one drives a smaller vehicle, which is true. ![]() Yesterday's drive was generally good. I stopped shortly after dark, mainly because bright headlights + TBI = Pain! Found a 24 hour gas station with a big parking area, asked nicely if could overnight, no problemo. Over at that other forum, there's a contingent of alarmists who make that far more complicated/intimidating than it really is. #roll-eyes Anyways, got my laptop charger, it works, did my laundry, figured out the source of water leakage (Walmart jug), missed the time window for the homeless shelter's Free Shower, but might hit it tomorrow. Then, Mark Twain NF bound! ![]() P.S. I'm already missing that Chromebook. I had only ever streamed from a Roku, so it was a decadent treat during these stressful months. Last thing I streamed was last week's episode of "The Orville" - it was a particularly good ep, with an excellent new view on a classic holodeck plot.
RE: Kaylee engine fund - Blacktank - 03-24-2019 check your tire air pressure,should be 40lb's or so,having them up to pressure and equal means a lot when it comes to a gushyless ride play with pressures between 35-45 lb's see what you like,more pressure= stiffer tire= less gush,lower pressure = softer ride RE: Kaylee engine fund - B and C - 03-24-2019 ^^^ Up to the maximum pressure as stated on the sidewall of the tire when they are cold. My tires are load range E and have a maximum pressure of 80 PSI. The rears are at 80 and the front is at 65 but I weigh 9700 Lbs, wait, my van weighs 9700 Lbs. I had several prewar Taylorcrafts who made the cub, untralights, & a 1st year Beech Bonanza that was in the factory at the same time as the one Buddy Holly & friends died in 20 serial #s away. Still have a Powered parachute that cost $15k & has 37 TTSN & those are run hours not even all flight hours. Legal Ultralight so no license needed ut 1/2 day of instruction is all it takes most peole to learn. I plan to sell it for $6500 & it has a trike bar so you can put a trike wing on it wich they have that will cruise $90+. Top of the line, no hanger just a snow mobile trailer. Smoken deal for someone. Also have an Anfib float plane over 1/2 done, my Parachute rig, my Dual 150 steel scuba gear & a single set & many 80cf alum tanks. With my mobility changing a tire is almost impossible & I've always been anal about correct tire pressure, so for $29.95/shipped from the U.S. I got a set of tire pressure & heat gauges.on Ebay. Got then in 4 days. They replace the valve caps & a solar powered unit sit's or velcrows to the dash showing all the tires pressure & temp, even has a USB for charging your phone. With new decent shocks the difference was that the driving went from white knuckle terrifying to just scary when class As and 18 wheeler rolled by. With steer safe added...the RV drives like a car. Sure, I can feel the motion of the RV when the big rigs pass...but, I do not feel it in the steering. It just goes where I point it. No more stress behind the wheel. |
