RE: Miles Irving - MN C Van - 06-05-2018

Used standoffs and bolted direct to roof. They sit about 1/16 off roof crown, and nothing besides panels stuck up.
Holes were small, 5/16", maybe. I'll post picture tomorrow.

I do not want to poke MORE holes in my aging dodge van roof.... just saying.

and this way, I can use the roof rack, as the panels ride about 1/2" below the bars
AND I can use the roof rack as the attachment point for my awning, and aux lighting.

I scanned through the thread a second time thinking I missed it, what brand roof rack are you using?
The gutter brackets look pretty stout and I'm in need of one but to cheap to cough up name-brand money.

Here is someplace you can start your search. Price comparison, quality and material used. I bought a ladder rack from them years ago for my pickup. When some parts got stolen off the rack I contacted them and they sent out replacement parts for it. Rack is still on the truck and stout as ever. I found them to be a decent outfit to buy stuff from.

must be early where you are.. Wink
it is printed right on the brand label, visible in the pics..
Highland
found it on Amazon for about $40

not high-end, but quite serviceable. Just as with any roof rack- watch for rusting and use touch up paint as necessary.

We have a highland brand roof rack. It is likely 20 years old. It has been on various vans over the years. We cleaned up the surface rust and loose paint and repainted it and our solar rides on it. We didn’t see a white one for $40 - time wise it would be a bargain.

GD, well there it is. Cool  I was searching the text with my cell and never enlarged the images.
Thank you. For that price and pretty good reviews it's worth a shot.

must be early where you are.. [Image: wink.png] " naa just too much Bailey's in the coffee.

Mo, looked through American Van site. They only offer a ladder rack for my truck and I've promised my last arm and leg to a tire manufacturer.  Big Grin but thanks for the link.
