Harbor Freight 4 amp digital display 6/12v battery charger
Posted by: TWIH - 05-30-2020, 07:54 AM - Forum: Product Reviews - No Replies

Have had this ‘Viking” branded unit for 5 months now, using it about twice monthly on one thing or another.  The digital display is only 3 numbers (12.2 not 12.20) so a bit inaccurate but it does match the cheap red HF multimeter on voltages. Operation is easy, it auto senses 6/12v and has manual screen setup for FLA, AGM or GEL.

It also came with a handy-dandy direct plug with alligator clamps or a 3/8” closed loop wired tip for going onto the battery bolt.  That’s handy as you can permanently install the latter onto the battery and then use the quick-disconnect/attach to hook up the little charger.

It’s basically as big as a common brick but 1/2 the weight. From the pic up top you can see the size relative to a riding mower battery.

Cost was $34 on sale with the 20% coupon which made it appx $30 after taxes. You can get their standard 10/2 amp non digital display charger for about $2-3 more when it’s on sale but I wanted the voltage display and will sacrifice the extra amps to have it.

  HARBOR FREIGHT JACK STANDS
Posted by: GotSmart - 05-19-2020, 04:42 PM - Forum: Product Reviews - Replies (8)

There has been a recall of 1,700,000 jack stands sold at HF.

Look them up if you have bought some there.

A detail about them not holding up the load.  Dodgy

Brick It’s Starting
Posted by: GotSmart - 03-03-2020, 07:43 PM - Forum: Useful Information - Replies (9)

I had a simple shopping list this morning.

Dishwashing soap and paper towels.   Sad

There has been a run on any cleaning supplies. The discount tents did not even have anything. Hand sanitizer is also sold out all over town. No TP

One highly intelligent person  Rolleyes stated that we will not get another shipment from China for six months.  Huh Huh Huh

I saved my breath trying to talk to that one.

We need a fact thread about surviving the current situation.

FACT.  Washing your hands frequently will help lessen the chance of getting the Virus.
FACT. Stop touching your face!
Clean the shopping cart handles~doorknobs-counters that you will be touching.

Anyone have any other common sense ways to lessen your chances of catching the Corona Virus?

I did one ear at a time & hear above average on both but my right isn't as good as my left from years of long gun shooting.
  Here's an eye test I haven't tried

time for the eventual (hopeful) takeoff when i retire. my wife and i

  Opinions on Diesel

I was just cruising through the Craiglist vans.  Several diesels there.

I don't know anything about diesel engines.  Could you folks give me a simple list of basic pros and cons?

Thanks.

  Hotspot router for Visible
Posted by: Gr8ful - 12-30-2019, 06:25 AM - Forum: Product Reviews - Replies (5)

I have had the Visible R2 for 2 months and it has been working great. I live in a Minneapolis suburb and have had no speed issues. I will be traveling to Washington state in a few days and it will be a good test for coverage.  Even though they state that the tethered speed is limited to 5Mb/s, my tethered speed is not capped yet. As stated, you can only connect one device at a time to the hotspot. To get around this I connect to a GL-AR150 travel router which allows me to connect multiple devices. It's available on Amazon for $26.50." It cost $26.50 but has a 35% off coupon so it now costs $17.22. I have one coming & thought it might be useful to other Visible or other brand users.
