We will be pruning the forum member database on 1 Feb 23. If you have an account but have never posted, the account will be deleted.

This forum has been running for a few years now, and it’s time to cull the member database. As a group of “bandwidth challenged” individuals, we want to reduce bandwidth in the areas we can without sacrificing content. Of importance also is the fact that this forum runs on the lowest bandwidth tier available on the hosting site. And while we are not in danger of hitting that data cap, we want to stay proactive. Also, we are a small, tight-knit community and we want to feel confidence in sharing our personal lives (as so many of us do). As a result, we ask two simple things:

1. Register to see posts below the first section (Forum Announcements).
2. Post at least one post, preferably introducing yourself. (We accept all members…from those currently living in a vehicle, those thinking about it/planning it, or anyone mildly curious. We do hope to hear from you more than once.)

A quick review shows that more than half the member’s database is composed of non-posting accounts. We are deleting those accounts starting 1 Feb 23. The Registration Agreement has been updated, informing new members of the requirement to post at least one post within 2 weeks of joining.

If any accounts are being held by spammers, it’s likely to be in this group, so it helps clean that up also. The end result will be invisible to current users, except that the site may get a tiny bit faster after cleaning up the list. These people have never posted, so no content will be lost.
If it is like the other site, they could continue to read posts without a login.

Since the new ownership, I only log in over there whenever I have something to add.

Off with their usernames!
We're not heavy on moderation like so many forums but this was something hanging out in the cellar and it was just time.
Before covid gary did most of the approvals with me purging the overnight hoards in early am .
I let some through because there wasn't a reason not to.
I just keep a lookout for spam in first posts but it seems that post never came for quite a few.
There is some activity hours logged for some so this is an attempt to get those folks to join in .
Yes Wayne , If someone is away for the next two months they can still read as a guest without logging in.
Or open a new account and post just once ! The bar isn't very high.
So this should have basically no effect for everybody except spammers .
And maybe we get a few new friends posting .

As for the rest , Feb 1st tossing them over the side and full speed ahead to....uhhhhh , infinity and beyond ?
Wherever it is , we'll get there faster .

BRING OUT YOUR DEAD! BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!

Time to cull the herd. Cool.
Wonder how many are ‘forum-bots’ and/or lazy spammers .. lol
First it was black Friday in September, now it's spring cleaning in February. Go figure, just stay out of my underwear drawer. Those aren't worn out, they are just broken in.
