I'm not sure what they're called exactly, but they are aircraft safety pins. I bought them at a swap meet for $5 a piece. You have to push the center button in to release the pin. New ones would cost a god awful fortune.

i have a 50 foot 10 gauge extension and voltage drop is a non issue

Ive a few 16 awg household extension cords of various lengths with 2 conductors on the ground path and 45 amp anderson powerpoles, and the wattage loss over using 10AWG is pretty much a non issue.

When setting up a permanent system it is always wise to use thick wire and proper terminations to keep resistance low and acheive maximum gain, but a portable panel, one can simply aim the panel a bit better more often and make up any losses over the too thin or too long of less than ideal wiring.

but if one has the budGet, by all means go with sheathed tinned marine 2 wire with Anderson powerpoles for maximum harvest. 8 awg would be better but stuffing 8awg into 45 amp andersons requires some destranding at the contact and shaving the insulation square so it fits within the housing. but this can be done to make it much more weatherproof on the backside of the terminals than if the wire insulation were to easily slide inside, as most 10awg can.

Tilting on my framed panel is basically only done to access the junction box on underside, or clean the roof under it. But I certainly would do so more often in certain situations. Its a great option but dont break the budget or ones back trying to do it.

 I forgot at low current from a small 12 volt solar panel the voltage drop is not much on a 10 gauge conductor. At 6 amps over 20 feet it’s 2% voltage drop. At 20 amps over 20 feet it’s 6.66% (0.80 volts) voltage drop. And 30 amps over 20 feet is 10%. So as SW mentions 20-25ft max keeps drop around 2% or 0.25 volts. 
 After several hours browsing websites for adjustable tilting solar rack hardware I cannot find any hardware I like for the money (for medium sized panels). Renogy and other companies make tilt hardware for small panels but it’s $26- $40 per panel!. The AM Solar tilt hardware looks interesting but $80 per panel!! So I’ll probably just use unistrut with a pin hinge at each end so the panel can be tilted either direction. I’m not sure what I’ll use for a prop to hold the panel up yet but pins and square tubing should work fine. I’m guesstimating it will cost about $20 for the hardware for each medium panel (190 watt) including the unistrut.
