Saw a few videos with mini split systems

These seem to be getting more and more popular.  I've been researching them a little and they seem a little more efficient than window ac units and don't take up a window space.  There are ac/heat models and ac only models.  I'd be more interested in the ac only models for my build since I'm planning on a propane wave 3 heater.  They are a little pricey right now but the efficiency, size and pretty much mount it anywhere you want makes it in interesting alternative.  Anyone using them or thinkiing about it?   Here is one I found and yes it is a tad pricey.  18 seer is nice.

The little 12V swamp unit that runs on ice water is around $600 so, $1000 is not bad, I think?? Way out of my range, though!!

I'm hoping they get really popular and the prices come down a little. The other issue is having enough stored voltage to run it. Really need to do your homework on sizing your solar and or wind setup.

I have seen these installed with the condenser box mounted behind a false wall in a utility trailer and on a swing away tire carrier on a truck/camper combination. The truck camper was cool and the precharged lines and ability to unplug and plug back in made the install pretty sweet. Camped the tire carrier swings left and exposes the unit to tons of air and it drains to the ground no fuss. It was pretty cool.

Just thought I'd help from the other side of the world.

The company supplies units for Little Boy trailers and while not recommended for mobile use they will apparently overlook this fact for repairs. But check as this may have changed. Power as always will be the bugbear but with a good hybrid inverter and a little Honda genny it is possible.

Yeah, they are really common over here in Australia. Never seen one in the US. I'll be installing loads of solar and wind when I do my build so I'll have plenty of power to run such an animal. Just hope prices come down as they gain popularity.
