Ice chest is the coldest it gets here. Sad 
I don't often do that , usually fix one meal , no leftovers.

me and a neighbor go back and forth,he makes meat sauce,i make chili,of course he sees it the other way

1 pound of hamburger per cup of pintos,tomatoes are too acidic for me so i use a beef base

Gary, If you ever want to use a tomato base sauce and if you want to avoid the acidity then try heating 1 cup of tomato sauce with 1/4 teaspoon baking soda (the baking soda neutralizes the acidity). Taste the sauce to gauge the desired taste and if not quite right then continue to add tiny amounts of baking soda to see if it mellows the acidity. Hope this helps.

We always change our tomatoes. There are non acidic brands of paste.
Compared to parenting, Cat herding is less complicated

not a fan of tomato in general,i use a couple bouillon cubes for a light beef base
on anything pinto i soak overnight,bring to boil then rinse to get rid of the strong bean flavor
