I used to hang out at the local Ham tower when I wasn't on the road.
(I'm still not sure the repeater was an electronic device or the ones that were broadcasting,,,,,,,
As they all did a significant amount of repeating themselves for days on end.
For those hams among us , you should be very familiar with this effect ???
EX: CQ CQ CQDX , how many times have you said that?)
Skuh kuh kuh kuh

They used to pick on me because I wouldn't get my license.
But when I spoke into a microphone I could get hundreds of "call backs" all at the same time.....
Hello Boston !
Everybody ready to hear this band ?

I SAID EVERYBODY READY ?????  that sure would pin the needle off the scale...

I really doubt that they would claim us.......

Just as surely as I know most of them belong here. Tongue

Riverman, there are courses on line to prepare with and you can take the test online. Supposed to be a good way to get the permit.

Mine ends in a C.
I'll have to find out if one can choose call signs, unless someone here already knows?

Your first callsign will be assigned by the FCC sequentially for the call district (area) that you live in (or mailing address location) but after you have received it (online) then you can apply for a vanity callsign, which are given in order of availability and according to your license class.
