New World Record
#1
NY Post had an article today on a Brazilian surfer who set a new world record by surfing an 80 foot wave in Portugal.  Includes a short video.

I don't like to make advance plans.  It causes the word PREMEDITATED get thrown around in the courtroom!

Nazare is a freak of nature, how it magnifies swells and refracts them into the mutant beasts which can reach so high.

And, it is a beach break. No reef or other structure.

Doubt there has bee a legitimate 68 inch wave around here lately.

They guestimate the size of the wave by the size of the surfer, but it is really difficult to determine where the trough ends and the wave begins, especially looking down on it from the cliff above.

Check out this wipeout:

That guy is still recovering some 8 months later
